Dr Sumair Khan

Dr Sumair Khan, is an experienced general dental practitioner, with special interests in Advanced Restorative, Surgical and Implant Dentistry.

Sumair is the senior partner of dental practices in London, Essex and Oxfordshire; a Programme Director for the Oxford dental foundation training programme - provided by NHS Health Education England; and a Programme Director for the postgraduate diploma in implant dentistry - provided by the Smile Dental Academy UK.

He has completed an MSc in implant Dentistry; a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry; and Postgraduate Certificates, in Medical and Dental Education, and in Leadership Coaching & Mentoring.

Dr Khan was an undergraduate clinical lecturer, teaching Oral Surgery, at St Barts& The Royal London Hospital 2000 - 2007.

He was an Educational Supervisor, for foundation training, in London 2002 - 2014; and a training program director for London from 2010 - 2014. He was the Associate Dean for North West London 2014 - 2018; and Interim Associate Dean for NHS Health Education England London and Kent Surrey Sussex from Nov 2016 - Jan 2018

In addition to providing complex restorative and surgical treatment 3-days per week, Dr Sumair Khan is involved in delivering teaching and clinical supervision of trainees 2-3 days per week.

Dr Khan has additional roles for Health Education England; as a GDP Appraiser and PLVE assessor, along with providing coaching and mentoring for Dentists in Difficulty.

Dr Khan was appointed as a Clinical Adviser and Expert Clinical Witness, for the Fitness to Practice department of the General Dental Council (UK) in February 2021.

He has published an educational research article in the British Dental Journal; an article on implant dentistry mentoring, for the BDA Indemnity Journal; and is currently co-writing a chapter on restoring the traumatised dentition, for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery text book.
